About Western Seer

Western Seer Records

Western Seer Records is the definitive representation of the catalogues, collaborations, and visions of founders Belle Plaine and Blake Berglund. Through its records, productions, publishing, and apparel, Western Seer is a handcrafted curation and artistic extension into industry. As both a record label and publishing company, Western Seer is committed to developing and amplifying the voices of songwriters who challenge the status quo while embracing the traditions of roots music.

Belle Plaine is an independent, award-winning songwriter, performer, and co-founder of Western Seer Records. Currently working on her fourth full-length studio album, The Weather, she moves seamlessly between genres, performing with symphony orchestras and honky-tonk bar bands alike. Her career has included festival appearances at Small Halls on Prince Edward Island, Regina Folk Festival, and industry showcases like Folk Alliance International and JUNOfest. As a writer and producer, she directed her debut documentary, Belle Plaine & Blake Berglund: Living From Home.

Blake Berglund is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and storyteller, as well as the CEO and co-founder of Western Seer Records. He has released his sixth full-length album, a double LP concept record and manifesto, What’s Left of the Right. Treading new sonic territory, the self-produced collection of 20 songs is a multi-genre political statement and rural memoir. With industry nominations, awards, and high-profile showcases, Berglund is leveraging his recognition by expanding Western Seer into a thriving record label, publishing house, and management company that champions independent artists with uncompromising creative visions.

Lachlan Neville is a rising voice in Canadian songwriting, balancing deeply rooted storytelling with a modern perspective. A past winner of the Nashville-based Henhouse Express Jr. Songwriting Competition, he has worked alongside Juno Award-winning producer Steve Dawson and performed at festivals including Big Flat Folk Festival, Gateway Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival, Northern Lights Bluegrass Festival, and All Folk’d Up. With influences ranging from Bob Dylan to Bruce Springsteen, his self-titled debut album—produced by Blake Berglund—is set for release on Western Seer Records in early 2025. As a Western Seer publishing artist, Neville’s music is positioned for opportunities in sync licensing, film, and television placement.

At its core, Western Seer Records is more than a label—it is a creative collective, an independent publishing house, and an advocate for artists carving their own path in an evolving industry.
